The comprehensive story of building the Wisconsin Central's mainline from Abbotsford, Wisconsin west to St. Paul Minnesota is told in this new book from the Soo Line Historical & Technical Society Archives. Rare photographs, maps, and 1917 ICC valuations from the SLH&TS Archives are included. Additional information provided by long -time SLH&TS members and friends was also used by Archives Committee Chairman and historian, Larry Easton, to cover the construction of the railroad from 1880 through the 1920s. This 372 page spiral bound 8 1/2 x 11 volume is printed on heavy glossy coated paper. Color illustrations highlight the historical photos and maps throughout the book. Over 480 photos, maps drawings and artwork of structures and Wisconsin Central locomotives compliment the text. Original newspaper accounts and corporate records provide an accurate history of the railroad's early days. Artwork by Larry Fisher and John Cartwright adorn the covers, drawing attention to prominent structures along the line. An appendix contains highlights from the Wisconsin Central's colorful timetable for May 29, 1904
